Instruction & Lessons

Teresa Charlton

Teresa Charlton is the owner of Team Charlton Highland Dancers.  Teresa comes from a family which was always involved in highland dancing.  Her mother was a kilt-maker, and her sister also danced and plays the bagpipes.  Teresa started dancing at age 8.  Some of the highlights of her dancing career included dancing at the first Canadian Interprovincial Championships in Ottawa, and at the Pacific National Exhibition's Star Spectacular.
Teresa obtained her teaching  certification in 1980.  She taught in Campbell River and Powell River for a
number of years, and then moved to Port McNeill where she again set up her own studio in 2006.  Many of Teresa's students have been successful at the Championship level.  She has had the pleasure of teaching many dancers
throughout their entire careers, and now enjoys seeing the children of many of her students taking an active interest in highland dancing.
Team Charlton  Highland Dancers have studios in Port Hardy and Port McNeill, on Northern Vancouver Island.  The studio has over 50 active dancers from ages 4 to adult. Students take exams annually through the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance.  Teresa also serves as the professional advisor to the Mt. Waddington Highland Dancing Association for their annual Fall Competition.
Lessons are generally taught from September to June, with a summer session in August. Beginner students are accepted at all ages.  Call Teresa at 250-974-7349  for more details or if you are interested in registering.

Fee schedulePlease contact Teresa or see the fee schedule posted in the Port Hardy or Port McNeill studio.  Post-dated cheques for the year are required in September.
